One Shock Wonder

One Shock Wonder. My nickname from my boyfriend for the past few months. I drive a lifted Jeep Wrangler and a few months back one of the bolts holding on my rear drivers side shock broke. Now you might be saying, you only lost one shock? Well, does 3 shock wonder really have the same ring. After many failed attempts and many many drill bits later. Brandon was able to remove the old broken bolt and put my shock back on. What a difference it really makes.

This was indeed the most productive part of my weekend. Other than friday night, in which I made a last minute gift - an embroidered Trogdor. I will have to post pictures later since I fotgot to snap one before giving it away.

Watched 3 movies, did some shopping, and drank a bottle of rum - between 3 people.

Transformers - I have already seen but I did enjoy seeing it again.

Sweeney Todd - Saw this in the theaters - I just adore Johnny Depp and Tim Burton movies!

Star Wars Episode III - I have seen all of them but this one. Unitl last night. I must say this is my favorite of the newest three. I think it was the satisfaction of seeing it all come together. Plus no Jar Jar (wait im lying he was at amadalas[sp?] funeral - but he didnt speak!)

Plus I got to cook, another enjoyment of mine. Not just cook blah boring dinner for myself. But I got to cook for my friends. I always enjoy that. Shrimp and Scallop Alfredo. Yum. People even went back for seconds! I need to start cooking more. Learn some new techniques. Maybe I will ask for a nice knife set for my birthday.

A question I pondered yesterday.

There are many times I feel like I am 5 again. Asking the questions of how and why. I was sitting with my cat Von looking out the window. It was raining and we were watching the robins feast on earthworms. They are some FAT birds. But then I wondered why do worms come to the surface in the rain. Not getting any good answers from my cat. I vowed to look it up today when I got to work. Here is the answer I found from Wikipedia. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Earthworm

Earthworms are often observed to come to the surface in large numbers after a rainstorm. There are four theories for this behavior.

*The first is that the waterlogged soil has insufficient oxygen for the worms, therefore, earthworms come to the surface to get the oxygen they need and breathe more easily. However, earthworms can survive underwater for several hours if there is oxygen in it, so this theory is rejected by some.

*Secondly, some species come to the surface to mate. This behavior is, however, limited to a few species, as well as the fact that this might not be always connected to rain.

*Thirdly, the worms may be using the moist conditions on the surface to travel more quickly than they can underground, thus colonizing new areas more quickly. Since the relative humidity is higher during and after rain, they do not become dehydrated. This is a dangerous activity in the daytime, since earthworms die quickly when exposed to direct sunlight with its strong UV content, and are more vulnerable to predators such as birds.

*The fourth theory is that as there are many other organisms in the ground as well and they respire as any animal does; the carbon dioxide produced dissolves into the rainwater; it forms carbonic acid and the soil becomes too acidic for the worms and they come seek neutral nourishment on the surface.

So, maybe some of my blogs will focus on those unanswered questions. I hope to have a good weekend. Maybe learn to ride a motorcycle since I am looking into financing one.

Keeping my chin up. I still never got the apology phone call I was told I would receive.

2 weeks

of non-sleeping i think has finally caught up with me.

Taking my beasties - my two kitties to the vet. A whole conquest in itself. Giving pills to felines. Never fun. I have many battle wounds. But a sense of accomplishment.

I had a wonderful day yesterday. Followed by a great day until you have to hang up on one of your best friends. That is not a fun thing to do. But I didn't feel I should have been spoken to in the manner that was happening!

Ugh.

Maybe tomorrow.
